8 Are there plans to film Close Encounters Two ii 2 in 3D three dimensions for theatres cineplexes movie venues?

Steven Spielberg doesn't always immediately embrace new film technologies like many other current movie directors. For instance, even though digital cameras are available for principal photography of motion pictures, Steven Spielberg prefers to create his movies with the old fashioned regular film cameras. However, with the recent mega success of several 3D three dimensions movies in multiplexes cinemas theaters, Steven Spielberg is going to start utilizing 3-D technology for some of his own films.

We don't know if this is a permanent shift by Steven Spielberg whereby all his future movies will be produced in the 3-D format, but it seems plausible that nearly all mainstream Hollywood films with extremely costly budgets will be filmed in 3 D three dimensions in order to benefit from increased 3D ticket price premiums and the fascination the audience has with motion pictures in 3D.

When color film was introduced long ago in Hollywood, it didn't become dominant immediately. Many movies continued to be shot in black and white. Over several decades, practically all Hollywood motion picture productions became color. We don't really know if 3-D three dimensions is the next revolution in cinema.

Right now, there are few multiplexes equipped with 3D film projectors, which means there are few movie screens for 3-D films to be shown in at theatres. With the success of recent 3 D movies, it appears more and more cineplex owners will build 3-D equipped screening rooms.

If 3D films continue to dominate the box offices worldwide, the three dimensions format may become the standard for nearly all full length feature films in cinemas. If Close Encounters of the Third Kind 2 happens, then Steven Spielberg would need to create it with 3D cameras for three dimensions presentations in theatres in order to maximize the box office gross potential for Close Encounters 2.
