Close Encounters of the 3rd Third Kind 2 Two ii 2nd Second

Close Encounters of the Third Kind is a full length, block buster movie, which was written and directed by the legendary film director Steven Spielberg. Its release date in theaters cinemas multiplexes was the year 1977.

Out in the Sonoran Desert, a French research scientist named Claude Lacombe is with a translator of English named David Laughlin with many more scientists with them looking for a strange anomaly. This scientific team sees a group of World War 2 fighter air craft, which are in remarkably good condition to be so old. The pilots are nowhere around. In another part of the world, two commercial jets nearly collide in the air with an unidentified flying object.

Far away in Muncie, Indiana, a young child named Barry Guiler awakes from sleep after his toys mysteriously become operational for no apparent reason. This child is eventually captured by the aliens extraterrestrials as his mother Gillian screams for mercy in complete panic. Meanwhile, many homes and businesses have lost all power, which means Roy Neary, an employee of the electric company, is out trying to repair the damage. Roy has a close encounter with a UFO and Roy unwittingly ends up in a police chase after several low flying UFOs.

After this strange event, Roy becomes obsessed with extraterrestrials aliens, which greatly upsets his wife Ronnie. In fact, Roy starts building some kind of quasi mountain that he sees in his mind. At the same time, Gillian begins to make art sketches of the strange rock formation. Roy's behavior is so bizarre to the point where Ronnie takes their children and leaves Roy by himself to obsess over the mountain. Somehow beyond the possible, Roy and Gillian are now permanently psychically linked to the aliens extraterrestrials.

Watching their televisions separately, Roy and Gillian witness seeing Devils Tower National Monument in Wyoming in the United States. Both instantly realize their visions are of Devils Tower. Meanwhile, there are multiple UFO sightings around the world at a feverish pace. Lacombe and Laughlin frantically search for answers and discover the UFOs are emitting a five tone musical message. As a result, Earth scientists begin sending this 5 note music into deep space. The extraterrestrials aliens respond by sending back a seemingly random series of numbers.

However, Laughlin understands the numbers to be geographical codes for a particular location on our planet. It turns out to be Devils Tower in Wyoming. The government, Roy and Gillian make their way to Devils Tower separately. In order to evacuate the area around Devils Tower so that there will be no civilian witnesses to whatever is suppose to happen at Devils Tower, the United States Army deceives the public by claiming there has been a release of dangerous nerve gas. The entire area around Devils Tower is evacuated of nearly all the people.

As the citizens flee in terror, the government arrives at Devils Tower with complex computers and machines in preparation for whatever the extraterrestrials aliens have planned. Against the odds, Roy and Gillian are brought together by fate and they are inexplicably drawn to Devils Tower despite the warnings of danger. With alien extraterrestrial mind control of certain individuals, these other people try to get to Devils Tower, but are stopped by Army soldiers. Somehow Roy and Gillian are able to elude the government agents and arrive above the place at Devils Tower where the scientists and government have set up their electronic equipment to record whatever is going to happen.

Suddenly, dozens of UFOs are seen in the dark night sky. After studying the communications style of the extraterrestrials aliens, the Human scientists begin to send messages to the exotic star entities with sound and light displays. Eventually, a gargantuan extraterrestrial alien mother star ship arrives at the landing site at Devils Tower. The aliens extraterrestrials begin to return abductees, who had been captured by the space beings over time. One of these abductees is Barry, the son of Gillian.

A complex system of communications happens between the aliens extraterrestrials and Human computers, which are now directly contacting the extraterrestrials aliens with extremely detailed light and sound messages. Roy is selected as one of the persons, who will be potential candidates for interaction with the aliens extraterrestrials. Finally, the mystery creatures emerge from the mother ship and choose Roy to accompany them inside their space craft. While Roy disappears inside the mind shattering UFO star ship, one of the alien extraterrestrial leaders interacts with the Human scientists.

Lacombe uses his hands to represent the five note music of the extraterrestrials aliens. The ET leader answers Lacombe with the exact same hand signals. The alien extraterrestrial leader enters the mother ship and it lifts off the ground and moves back high into the sky. The scientists and government have just encountered the first known contact between official representatives of the Human population and the mind stunning extraterrestrials aliens. The movie ends without revealing why this first contact happened. We are left to wonder for all eternity as to why Roy was selected as the chosen one above all other Human mortals.
